LeRoy Poff  is a Colorado State University professor and a national and international leader in the field of stream and river ecology, especially the consequences of human-altered hydrology on river species and ecosystems. Professor Poff has published more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific papers, reflecting his interdisciplinary and collaborative research on the ecology, hydrology, geormorphology, and sustainable management of streams and rivers. He is a former President of the International Society for Freshwater Science, and he is an elected Fellow of the prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Ecological Society of America.
