Adrian Tuck is an award-winning entrepreneur and industry visionary. He has more than 20 years of executive management and leadership experience in a variety of high-tech fields.
As CEO at Uplight — formed from the merger of Tendril and Simple Energy and the acquisitions of EEme, EnergySavvy and FirstFuel — Adrian is responsible for driving strategic direction. He has built a solid, forward-thinking customer base, world-class internal team, and strong set of partnerships and investors. Adrian has long been regarded as a visionary and innovator in the technology industry. During his seven years as CEO of Tendril, Adrian built the company’s open platform based on the guiding principle that “the ecosystems you can build with open standards drive huge engines of innovation that surpass closed standards.”
Adrian has received numerous industry accolades, including the 2011 GridWeek Award for Outstanding Leadership in Advancing the Smart Grid; inclusion on The Networked Grid 100: Movers and Shakers of the Smart Grid; Entrepreneur of the Year alongside Tendril co-founder and CIO Tim Enwall at the ESPRIT Entrepreneur 2011 Awards; the 2011 Colorado Cleantech Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association; and the 2011 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer Award. In 2012, he led Tendril to receive the New Energy Pioneer Award, given by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
Adrian sits on the board for the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder. He currently serves as an adjunct professor teaching entrepreneurial courses for undergraduate students at UC Boulder. Adrian received his education at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the British Army’s prestigious officer training academy.
